Home at Last

Six long years ago we packed our treasures into cardboard boxes and set out on a journey that would cover two thousand dusty miles and two very different cultures. Along the way, we learned Spanish, saw our children growing up, witnessed miracles, and lived in a half-dozen different houses. We fought cockroaches, squished scorpions, and once we even had to chase a vampire bat from under the bed. There was rarely enough room for all of us, and in several places we had to sleep under different roofs. Each step of the way, we dragged those cardboard boxes until their corners were dented and their lettering faded. Just a little longer...just a little more to go...and one day, we'll be there!

We burned those boxes last week. The treasures are finding their way to corners and shelves. The suitcases have been put away in a real closet. We're finally home...for now.

As we look for the Lord's return, let's not forget that we are merely pilgrims passing this way. We are headed for the promise that is waiting for us at the end of the journey. One of these days, we'll burn those boxes 'cause we'll really be home, home at last!

Center for Cross-culteral Studies

After planning El Monte's first phase for over a year-and-a-half, and it was time! Time to open the Missionary Training Center. While we've been waiting for construction permits on the property, we've been busy designing curriculum, contacting teachers, and recruiting students for the school. All that remained was to rent a temporary facility!

What a blessing we've experienced in this first month of classes. Two couples, three single guys and a single girl make up our first class; Mexicans with the call to go to Africa, India, China, and the Middle East. These are the first of a growing tidal wave of Latin missionaries that is growing on the horizon. What a privilege it is to work and learn together as we seek to fulfill our Lord's commission to “Go... for it.” Please continue to pray for building permits, as we hope to move the school to El Monte when our students return from their short-term missions experience in mid-May.

Please Pray For:

  • Legal paperwork
  • Power lines
  • Funds for two student apartments
